"ONCE IN A LIFETIME."
Over the past few months, I have had a rather enjoyable time doing the English Term Project with my friends. There were many ups and downs during this duration of time, however I can proudly say that I have made significant contribution to the project. One of them was successfully attending all planned groups meetings. During this past few months, we have had countless amounts of meetings to both plan and discuss about our project. No matter the time nor date, I made it my duty to attend. Furthermore, other contributions that I have made was publishing multiple articles on our “All Blacks” official website for public view. At our official website, we have heaps of interesting articles written by over own members about a certain topic and has been arranged according to a specific colour. Moreover, I also have had the pleasure of creating and managing our official twitter account for our group. The “All Black’ twitter account is currently going rather well with frequent updates as well as other interesting stuff like daily quotes and the like. In addition to that, I was in charge of designing one of over official poster. I believe the poster that I have designed successfully captured the image of our group. Finally, I help design our website and gave many thoughts and suggestion about certain matters regarding our project which I feel help improve our overall performance.
In regard to the challenges we have faced doing our project, the biggest and striking one of them all was the clash of design choices or general expectations on many things such as the view of the website or where our trip would take place. The other challenge that we endured was the clashing of timetable of our group members. Some of our group members have extra curriculum activities or just lived far away from campus making organising meeting a chore.
Most of the challenges we faced were resolved by the creation of a dedicated WhatsApp group for us to discuss as well as to plan our weekly meetings. Through the WhatsApp group, if a group member who was unable to attend a meeting, he was still able to play his part and give his own personal thoughts. As for the general clash of design choices, we basically voted on which design choice was better and selected the one with more votes.
In short, I really had a blast doing this project. Not the paperwork and such mind you, anyone who says that is just trying to squeeze some extra marks by lying. The main thing that made me really enjoy this project was our Ipoh trip together. That trip was simply amazing, and although we went there with the main focus to gain content for our project, I truly enjoyed myself there. Zhao Feng, a fellow group member was an awesome host by showing us all Ipoh have to offer in 2 days and 1 night. I felt that our bonds of friendship were rekindled in that trip and any doubt I previously had was set aside. I also felt more confident and generally have a more optimistic look on life after that Ipoh trip. The Ipoh trip we had would not be a reality without this English Term Project, and for that I am forever grateful for it.
Among the 3 Taylor’s Graduate Capabilities that I have acquired through this project include Communication Skills, Interpersonal Skills as while as Lifelong Learning. I feel by going through this project, my Communications Skills have increased immensely. A large part was through giving public presentations in class. This have enable me to tackle my stage fright and speak in front of a large audience. I also feel more confident in my conversation skills as I have learnt quite a few handy conversation tips while researching for this project. I am sure this will help me greatly in the corporate world by allowing me to successfully give presentations or talk in large crowd. Furthermore, I fell that I have made major improvements in my Interpersonal Skills. In the duration of this entire project, we faced many challenges that questions the strength of our teamwork. One in particular was the clash of design we had in our team. However, as team we managed to overcome and find a solution to our problems. This has help me to understand team dynamics to a far greater level. Finally, I feel that I have gained some important Lifelong Learning skills. I have learnt to appreciate life a little more after accomplishing this project. I have learnt a lot throughout this journey. For example, I have learnt about the importance of mental and physical health, the importance of dreams and ambitions as while as why we shouldn’t take life for granted.
