"THIS IS MY JOURNEY."

My reflection

This project has been an eye opener for me because I have never worked in a team to build a website. At first, I was excited to have received the theme of the project as ‘living life to the fullest’; I initially had many good ideas for this project but underestimated how hard this project would be.

I have designed one poster for the team, my poster represents the team as a whole and shows our unity and what we have gained as a group in terms of understanding each other and what it means to live life to its fullest. Secondly, I have arranged for the group to visit Ipoh, Perak on the 30th of June (Friday) – 1st of July (Saturday). We left Kuala Lumpur at the crack of dawn on Friday and we came back to Kuala Lumpur late Saturday. Furthermore, I have organized several meetings with the group on the weekends and after class for further innovative ideas for the website and things to be done for the project. Besides that, I have arranged several outings with the group on weekends to help boost morale, this will help the group to stay motivated and driven to complete the project. Also, I have written an article on the website as we have all agreed. I have also had the pleasure to of creating and managing our official Instagram account for the group. The “All Black Is Life” Instagram account is currently going as planned and is frequently updated to insure our users are in the know.

Some of the challenges I have faced while completing the project is to arrange the perfect timing for a meeting. The reason why is because some of us live far away from campus while some of them have to leave campus right after class to avoid rush hour. Besides that, the other challenge was unclear expectations. Some of the group members have different expectations with how the website will look and how the trips will take place.

The challenges were resolved by making a what’s app group to arrange the perfect timing for the group discussion. Besides that, we have weekly briefings on the website and trips to make sure that we have the same if not similar expectations.

Yes. This project has given me the chance to understand my friends in a more deep and personal level. Getting a chance to spend more time with my friends has allowed me to gain their trust and feel like family around them. This project has also allowed me to make more friends outside of my group which helped me approach other people easily. The recent trip we had to Ipoh has made me realize that I went there thinking that it was going to be a project but came back realizing that we were actually making memories that will be talked about in the future. I truly feel blessed to have found a second family being able to express my feelings and talking to them when I have rough patches. By working so close this will enable me to be able to work with other groups easily in the near future since we have established a solid friendship.

The three (TGC’s) Taylors Graduate Capabilities are Lifelong Learning, Thinking and Problem-Solving Skills and Communication Skills. By having this project, I have gain Lifelong Learning, I have developed a habit of wanting to find out about more different cultures and anything else that I have slim knowledge of and educating my knowledge to my friends. I feel that having this as a habit will benefit me in the future when I get into the corporate world. Besides that, I have also acquired the ability of Thinking and Problem-Solving Skills. This project has helped me to think critically and creatively because we have to design our website in an innovative way to make sure we are able to attract the attention of our users. We also developed a skill to define and analyze problems to arrive at effective solutions for instance when we faced problems and difficulties with the ETP (English Term Project), we quickly analyze the problem and we quickly come to quick and effective solutions and it saves us a ton of time by compromising on the best solution. Thus, in the future we will be able to find the problems and come up with a solution easily. Lastly, I have gain better Communication Skills. I have developed better communication skills by giving presentations in class. Thus, it gave me more confidence to speak to other people in public without hesitation or fear and will give me more confidence in the future to speak to other people in larger crowds.
