My reflection

Throughout this English Term Project (ETP), I helped to design a poster for my team. My poster is about our theme which is ‘All Black’ lifestyle. Secondly, since my hometown is Ipoh, so I am the ‘tour guide’ when my teammates visited Ipoh, Perak on 30th of June (Friday) – 1st of July (Saturday) to complete our English Term Project. I brought them around Ipoh and introduced them all the delicious food and tourist attractions in my hometown so that we are able to finish our project. Furthermore, I also helped to take picture throughout this project. So that we have photos to put in our websites to make it more attractive and lively. Besides that, I also gave some brainstorming ideas on the design of our webpage, so that our website is user-friendly. Lastly, I also helped to create a Facebook page for our project so that it can be linked in our main website. Also, I helped to create a QR code for our website.

Of course, there are challenges throughout this English Term Project. One of the challenges that I have faced is I have different opinion and expectation with others on how our webpage looks like. Next, I also faced conflicts and arguments between other members of my group. It is because everyone insists on their opinion and that is how arguments happened.  Also, I missed one meet up with my group members and cannot follow up all the progress they have discussed.

The challenges were resolved by discussing all the pros and cons of each of our opinions. After that we chose the best opinions given by our group members as we all have agreed. Other than that, my group leader, Benjamin Zahn also updated all the progress everyday in our WhatsApp group to ensure everyone in the group can follow up all the progress even though they did not attend the meeting. Besides, we have weekly briefings on the website to make sure that we have the same expectation with others.

Yes, I enjoyed this project so much. This project allowed me to express my creativity. From designing a website to designing a poster, my designing skill had improved a lot. This was so much fun because I like to design stuff. Other than that, I also got an opportunity to understand my friends in a more closer way. This project also helped to foster the relationship between us. Besides that, I got to spend more time with my friend by completing this project. Other than discussing this project with them, I also got chance to talk to them in a more personal way. I enjoyed the project because I feel so lucky that I have such good teammates that are willing to help each other throughout the whole project. Boringness never strikes during our meetings because there are always laughter and jokes during our meetings. That is why I love and enjoy this project so much. It is not only about doing assignment but also having fun at the same time!

The three Taylor’s Graduate Capabilities (TGCs) that I have acquired through this project are communication skills, thinking and problem solving skills and lifelong learning. My communication skills had enhanced by having this English Term Project (ETP). I have learnt that communication is truly important throughout this project. For example, I need to communicate with others to plan our trip to Ipoh. Although it was a short trip but communication still plays an important role on it. Without communication, the trip won’t be successfully organized. I have learnt to really communicate with other appropriately in different situation. Furthermore, I have also acquired the skills of thinking and problem solving.  I have to think creatively to design a poster that is innovative and creative to make sure it can attract the attention of others. I also learnt how to solve problems during this project. I have learnt to analyse problems and solve it with effective solutions. For example, we have faced difficulties in creating a nice website, but at last we are able to create our website in a simpler way by making the website simpler but still nice and rich of information. Last but not least, I have gained lifelong learning throughout this project. For example, I learnt about our theme ‘All Black’ by doing research online so that I am able to know deeply about our theme and not just touch the surface of it.
