From these past few month, many events, opportunities and friendships have been presented to me in my time in Taylor’s Lakeside University but one of the most intriguing event was the opportunity to do this English Term  Project. I learnt a great amount of information around me, knowledge about my friends and work, knowledge about places i’ve never been before and experiences never touched in my life have been presented to me through the works this English Term Project has given me. Friendship, discipline, courage and wisdom are presented to me through various ways in these experience. I learnt friendship from Zhao feng and the rest of my team. They gave me a friendly and relaxed environment for me to work in, which helped me contribute better for the team. And with everyone being so organised and talented with what they do, production for our work has never been more easier. Discipline has also been a core function in our group, by prioritizing our goals and working together within schedule, we are always moving at our peak performances with the guidance of our leader Benjamin Zahn. Furthermore, courage was presented to me when they gave me the chance to go Ipoh in a group of friends. It was a step of courage for me since i had to take a train and LRT back from ipoh by myself which really boosted my independance and general knowledge of the commuting systems. And finally, wisdom was given to me from all of these experiences combined. It taught me how to deal with my teammates better when we disagree or have problems and grow beyond our arguments into something more productive.

            I was in charge of website creation and design. I also came up with the concept of our project. The concept of balancing the colours in our life was taught up through the simple illustration of colours being mixed will eventually turn black. And, with the randomly thought up name “All Black” it fitted perfectly for us. I wrote some articles on the website and also help with being decisive in discussions. Although my groupmates would disagree with my pessimistic thinking at times but i prefer to picture reality through a more realistic mindset. In which case, I’m the guy who throws down people’s ideas when they seem unrealistic which in all honesty is hard to deal with at most times. I feel as though this group flourishes because of our different traits and abilities. It makes it easier for us to spread our work because everyone has a specific talent to contribute. Never once have i thought that we cannot do this project because of how passionate this team works and for a pessimistic guy like me. It is really intriguing.

Among the Taylor’s Graduate Capabilities, i have learnt Thinking and Problem Solving Skills, Intrapersonal Skills and Interpersonal Skills. Thinking and problem solving has been grown on me since our group needs to always have ideas to move and with that said, i became way more creative and diverse with what i do which also allows me to not only think but view things from a different perspective. Intrapersonal skills i have acquired are through some mistakes or narrow mindedness that i have done in the past and now that i reflect on them, some of the arguments were irrelevant and could have been used to focus on our goals instead. I had a habit of shutting down other opinions because to me they seem irrelevant to me but i guess i should consider whether the group thought it was irrelevant first. Interpersonal skills i have gain is to assume a leadership role. When everyone becomes indecisive or fights for a irrelevent topic i usually try to make a point for the whole group to agree. Which in most cases may make me look like a guy who is controlling and very selfish but in all honesty, i just want to get good marks.

 In short, the theme of the project is to live life to the fullest and as cliché as this sounds. I think i’m living life to the fullest with my friends through this project and i think that everyone should learn to grow in a positive and open environment where the fun and work never ends.
