"THE GREATEST"
My reflection
I participated in the planned weekend and after class meetings to contribute my ideas and discuss the further development of our project. Furthermore, Benjamin Zahn and I partook in a charity run, this falls under one of our three main topics; Charity.
The main problem I faced during this project was coming up with a specific time for meetings. This is because I have different timings for certain subjects when compared to the rest of my teammates, and this proved quite troublesome to come up with a time where everybody was free, or more specifically, when I was free. Nevertheless, we still managed to pull through. Another problem I had was conflicting views. In a group of six, there was bound to be some disagreement between the ideas and views of certain members.
The timing challenge I had was easily averted by creating a Whatsapp group consisting of all the members. This allowed us to plan a proper time for our meetings without any repercussions. The conflicting views challenge was conquered by being considerate and utilizing a vote system. Every one of us listened to the views and ideas of each other with an open heart and mind, giving everyone a chance to speak and provide their reasons. As mentioned, we also utilized a vote system to ensure a fair outcome.
I certainly enjoyed playing a part in this project. This group project strengthened the bonds between my friends and I, understanding each other in a way like never before. By spending time with each other and actually taking the time to get to know each other better. Partaking in this journey with them was truly a memorable experience that I will remember for years to come. Besides that, this project also thought me the importance of communication, cooperation and consideration, life lessons that cannot be attained easily, and I’m thankful for that. In addition to that, by stepping out of my comfort zone and trying things that I have never done before, my confidence level has significantly increased.
The three (TGC’s) Taylors Graduate Capabilities are Communication Skills, Lifelong Learning, Thinking and Problem Solving Skills. Being a group project, communication skills was very important for there to be progress and to avoid any misunderstandings. Throughout the entire time of meetings in the library discussion rooms, my communication skills with the team have notably increased. This will not only help me in my daily live, but also in the future working industry. The next TGC I learnt was Lifelong Learning. As mentioned before, during this project, I have learnt various lifelong skills such as cooperation, communication, consideration, dedication and many more. For example, during the charity run with Benjamin Zahn, I learnt that life isn’t only about taking, more importantly, it is about giving. These are skills that will stay with me for a lifetime, and make me a better individual overall. Lastly, I have also acquired the Thinking and Problem Solving Skills. This project made me think critically and out of the box to solve the problems and challenges we have faced. For example, when the project first started, we wanted to take it to the next level, we wanted to come up with something extraordinary, something that truly set us apart from the other teams, and that’s how we came up with the All Black Lifestyle, through creative and innovative thinking.
